Sélèque Champagne Wine Tasting
Join us Wednesday, April 1, as we welcome special guest Jean-Marc Sélèque, winemaker and third-generation owner of one of Champagne’s most exciting domaines.
About the Event
We're pouring seven of Jean-Marc’s Champagnes—including three vintage selections—during this exclusive event, where guests will have an opportunity to chat with the winemaker in a relaxed setting. Some of these wines are very limited, making the opportunity to try these even more special. We'll also be serving a menu of Champagne-friendly foods (including fried chicken and caviar, of course).
The“Sélèque” style revolves around the search for a wine’s natural balance and the purest expression of the fruit and its natural surroundings. The domaine practices low intervention in the field and in the cellar. Their approach yields wines that are expressive yet balanced: generous bouquets, rich textures, and layered, harmonious flavors.
Doors open at 5:30. Event is reception style and concludes at 9 pm. We will be closed for our regular dinner service in order to host this special tasting. Reserve your spot now.
About The Winemaker
Jean-Marc’s grandfather, Henri Sélèque, planted vines in the 1960s in Moussy and Pierry, producing his first bottles in 1969. His son Richard followed in his footsteps, studying oenology before jumping in, modernizing and improving the domaine's practices. At the same time, the father-and-son duo acquired and planted new plots whenever opportunities arose in very high quality terroirs.
Jean-Marc, Richard’s son, spent time in New World vineyards owned by Maison Chandon before returning to the family domaine. These experiences abroad allowed him to fuse technical know-how with his father's teachings and his own observations. He committed to pursuing an artisanal vision of Champagne, an authentic one reflecting an accurate and natural expression of terroir.
With the desire to balance modern technology with respect for the plant and its environment, he and his wife, Oriane, moved to a custom facility, designed in every way to preserve the integrity of the wine.
